Allison Rapp, a member of the
Maryland bar, assists in client representation on a wide range of
copyright, trademark, and contractual matters. She has drafted filings
in connection with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (§ 1201,
First Sale Doctrine) and Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel
proceedings before the Library of Congress, and has conducted research
for amici briefs in the United States Supreme Court cases The New
York Times v. Tasini, National Geographic Society v. Greenberg and
Eldred v. Ashcroft. She has also done
extensive analysis of the
scope of public and private exploitation rights in federally-funded
works of authorship. Her work has included participation in the defense
of a client's Internet advertising practices against claims of
copyright and trademark infringement.
Prior to law school, Ms. Rapp worked for several years in artist
publicity with the Columbia Records Media Department and as Marketing
Services Manager with Sony Music. At Columbia, she worked on national
media campaigns for a wide range of pop and jazz artists; facilitated
press conferences, junkets, and record release events; and negotiated
agreements with outside vendors (photographers, camera crews, etc.),
among other functions. At Sony Music, she oversaw package development
for CD, video, and DVD releases, coordinating A&R, product
management, legal, creative services, and print production functions to
ensure adherence to budgets, timely delivery to manufacturing, and
compliance with copyright and trademark law, contractual obligations,
and parental advisory programs.
Ms. Rapp earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her
B.A. in Journalism, cum laude and with departmental honors, from the
University of Massachusetts at Amherst. |
