Ben Sternberg’s practice focuses on intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on the litigation of copyright, trademark, and right of publicity matters in the context of both federal court and administrative proceedings. He also counsels established businesses and start-up companies on protecting intellectual property assets and complying with intellectual property law. He began his affiliation with Lutzker & Lutzker LLP as a law clerk during his second and third years in law school.

Mr. Sternberg received his B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University in 2007. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2012. During the summer of 2010, Mr. Sternberg served as a law clerk at CBS Corporation where he worked primarily on contract, copyright and broadcast law issues. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sternberg was a litigation paralegal at the firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. He also worked as a law reform unit intern with the Legal Aid Society where he engaged in legislative and administrative advocacy on behalf of the indigent.


  • Representing legendary soul singer Sam Moore in a trademark and right of publicity lawsuit concerning the use of Mr. Moore’s name, likeness and other indicia of persona in connection with the 2008 film Soul Men. An appellate brief is pending before the Sixth Circuit.
  • Defending Kardwell International, a family-owned entertainment company, against allegations that Kardwell sold casino gaming layouts which infringed the copyright and trademark rights of mega-corporation Shuffle Master, International
  • Representing religious television producers and syndicators before the Copyright Royalty Board of the Library of Congress in proceedings to determine the allocation of hundreds of millions of dollars in annual cable and satellite royalties
  • Preparing an opinion letter as to whether the practices of an online business serving as a resource for art collectors are in compliance with copyright and trademark law
  • Advising a client on the strength of its claims against competitors using its trademarks in connection with Internet advertising
  • Analyzing intellectual property coverage under client insurance policies
